New Drops: The end of March!

Hey everyone - welcome back to at the discotheque. March has already practically disappeared (as I said in the month in review post for February, where the hell does all of the time go?) but these last two weeks have seen some awesome drops in French house and future funk, so they have to be covered! FIBRE x Aritus - Virtues EP (Deluxe) For me, this is the release of the month. Initially released in 2016 by FIBRE and Aritus on their label Future Society, today Neoncity Records have reissued classic EP Virtues and added loads of awesome bonuses in the process - including several bonus tracks and three remixes from some of future funk's greatest (ConsciousThoughts, Rhodes Rhodesu and Vantage!) On the whole, the original EP is irresistibly funky throughout, with some incredible sample selections and incredibly punchy production, typical of both FIBRE and Aritus (and they can do no wrong!) - my favourite tracks from Side A include Always, Zenith and the original version of Odyssey, wh...

Review: FIBRE's 2014-2016

Released through UK based label Savona in January 2017, FIBRE's first compilation album has been a personal favourite of mine in the future funk scene for years for so many different reasons - not to mention that it is genuinely an incredible piece of work. Recorded over two years, this compilation contains twelve of the Washington based producer's most well known tracks - creating a smooth, fun listening experience across the thirty minutes that the LP runs for. Every track is upbeat, fun, exciting and produced expertly - the sample selections are awesome (I mean, it's FIBRE, you can expect that!) and his signature sound shines through on every track effortlessly, giving a new and fresh take on future funk with some obvious disco and French house influences sprinkled in. Listeners may recognize some of these tracks from various sources (as an example, Don't Stop was released on Business Casual as part of the 810 EP back in 2016) however most will likely recognize tra...

New Drops: March 7th

The first week of March is already over (where did all of the time go?!) and we already have a lot to talk about this week in the future funk and french house scenes, respectively. Be prepared to find loads of awesome new jams from lots of awesome people. To start this post off, let's talk about B FROM E's brand new EP - the second in the Samsara Cycles series, known as Earth Night, released on French based house label Happiness Therapy today.  This is a truly fantastic piece of work - ever since the opening track Yum! was released as a single, I'd been waiting for this EP for over a month and it was truly worth the wait - five club ready bangers built for summer days and having fun. My favourite tracks include Yum, Scoopy (my personal favourite, the melody is so catchy!) and Float Part II.  You can buy the EP digitally through Happiness Therapy's Bandcamp page and also order the vinyl 12" - there are currently 24 remaining as I write this though, so be quick team...
