New Drops: March 7th

The first week of March is already over (where did all of the time go?!) and we already have a lot to talk about this week in the future funk and french house scenes, respectively. Be prepared to find loads of awesome new jams from lots of awesome people.

To start this post off, let's talk about B FROM E's brand new EP - the second in the Samsara Cycles series, known as Earth Night, released on French based house label Happiness Therapy today.

This is a truly fantastic piece of work - ever since the opening track Yum! was released as a single, I'd been waiting for this EP for over a month and it was truly worth the wait - five club ready bangers built for summer days and having fun. My favourite tracks include Yum, Scoopy (my personal favourite, the melody is so catchy!) and Float Part II.

You can buy the EP digitally through Happiness Therapy's Bandcamp page and also order the vinyl 12" - there are currently 24 remaining as I write this though, so be quick team!

Here's something new from UK based future funk / french house / drum and bass producer Strawberry Station, the single "One Feeling" - a fun little track for parties and undoubtedly a great future funk outing. This was also supposed to be the next entry in his yearly future funk song series (Future Funk 2025) however it later took a different direction instead. Still though, this is a super sweet tune - huge shoutout to Strawberry Station himself.

You can find the track on his Bandcamp.

I did not expect to find this at all today - but it truly is a pleasant surprise, being the new album from UK based future funk producer Jingoro, aptly titled Times We Had. Most of the tracks come from the EP of the same name (which is a great release, may I add) along with a few new tracks and the odd single here and there.

This album is very good - all of the songs are basically quintessential modern future funk - with some awesome sample selections, tight production and overall, lots of catchy, fun grooves. My favourite tracks include Lucky (which features Don't Say - go and check out his solo stuff too!) Secrets and the purely brilliant Agent Girl, which was one of, if not my favourite future funk song of 2024.

To add - Times We Had has been released through American label Business Casual - you can buy the album digitally there (or order it on limited edition cassette) and if you want to support Jingoro independently, you can get this album through his Bandcamp page. It (hopefully) will also be on Spotify when the time comes. For now, here's the alternate cover used on Business Casual.

Finally, today Corrout dropped an awesome future funk / anime groove track sampling Persona - it's an awesome track, fused with his signature style of mashing great beats and groovy sample selection. You can find it on Spotify currently. (I'm having to use his Bandcamp profile picture as I can't find a good image of the single for now!)

As always, thank you for reading, and keep enjoying your stay at the discotheque.

Crydamoure is back (technically)

Hey everyone - welcome back at the discotheque. For today's post, I thought I'd write about something a little bit different. Over the last nine months or so, a small group of independent producers have been making waves in the French house scene for a simple reason - they're bringing back the sound of legendary French label Crydamoure with style. If you've been living under a rock for the past few decades - or are relatively new to the French house scene - Crydamoure was the record label ran by Guy-Man (one half of legendary duo Daft Punk) and Rico Chedeville between 1997 and 2003. In it's years of operation, it quickly became one of the most respected labels of its time - releasing several EPs and singles which became classics - from fantastic artists such as DJ Sneak, Paul Johnson, Play Paul, Sedat and Archigram, alongside Rico and Guy-Man themselves, under the alias "Le Knight Club" All of the records released through Crydamoure are of the highest orde...

Interview: Ghosts of Venice

Hey everyone - welcome back at the discotheque! It's been a hot minute since there was an interview on the blog - and to make up for that, tonight we have somebody extremely special in the virtual hot seat - the incredible Ghosts of Venice. Known for his illustrious career spanning over a decade and a half - he's released on some of house music's biggest labels, produced some of the hottest tracks and remixes around, has over a billion streams under his belt - and he's also a pretty cracking DJ and promoter. With all of this in mind - I knew he had to get onto the blog! So, without further ado - I'll let him do the talking! For those who don’t know – who are you, what music do you make and where are you from?  My name is Lee Dunn, and I’ve gone by many monikers over the years, but most people know me as Ghosts of Venice. These days I mostly make Disco, and I’m from North Yorkshire, England. If you had to describe your sound to someone who’s never listened to your mu...
