Hey everyone - welcome back at the discotheque!
It's been a hot minute since the last promotion post on the blog (to be more specific, a month!) - and over the last two weeks, there's been some incredible releases, happenings and the return of several legends. Without further ado, let's get straight to it.
ADRIANWAVE - DEREALIZATION
Released independently on September 30th - Derealization is the brand new album from future funk legend Adrianwave and boy, it is absolutely fantastic. Stuffed to the brim with chilled out hip hop beats, golden age future funk that could fit perfectly on Artzie Music and dazzling, sample based disco jams, this - is a fantastic return to form for one of future funk's all time greats.
Throughout the ten tracks released on this album, Adrianwave demonstrates his talents widely, creating a fun, interesting and incredibly unique album. My personal favourites on this future classic include Obsessive Compulsive - a groovy, extremely upbeat future funk track with barrels of post-disco influence - Antisocial, a smooth, calm yet sentimental disco infused hip hop track (which feels very akin to vaporwave, in some ways!) and one of the album's openers, Manic Episode - which, despite it's title - is an extremely funky, exciting and joyful future funk banger which could have fit perfectly on a Future Society compilation during future funk's so called "golden age"
In short, this new release is absolutely brilliant - it's produced excellently, it's diverse, unique and fun - and above all, it's Adrianwave. You really can't go wrong!
You can find Derealization on all good streaming platforms - however I'll link the Bandcamp release here, in case you want to support Adrianwave directly.
Da Syncopator - Parade / Take It Out / Noize Freakz / Number 444
Released through Synchroma on September 24th - Texas based producer Da Syncopator's brand new EP is a dazzling selection of four absolutely killer filter house tracks in the style of legendary label Crydamoure. Boasting collaborations with DJ Dion (for Parade) and also Eager Phoenix (in the form of a download exclusive remix of Take It Out) - this EP has officially established Synchroma as one of the hot new labels to watch in the French house scene.
All four of the tracks featured on this EP are true, filtery, disco infused club weapons built to destroy dancefloors going into autumn - Noize Freakz is a summery, fun and groovy track with just the right amount of funky goodness - Number 444 is a thumping, yet slightly experimental classic with some incredibly interesting sample techniques and slamming drum work - and Parade (with DJ Dion) is bound to be a future classic - it's catchy, ridiculously jubilant and it oozes quality. As a plus, it reminds me heavily of the work of Play Paul or Le Knight Club, which is very, very fitting!
The download only bonuses on this release are just as good - Eager Phoenix's remix of Take It Out turns the original from a light, funky jam into a thumping, groovy classic that would fit perfectly in Daft Punk's earlier DJ sets, or at a DJ Sneak gig. The demo version of Parade - by DJ Dion, is a very chilled out take on the opener of the EP, and although I generally prefer the final version, the demo is still incredibly impressive and groovy.
This release is absolutely fantastic - DJs, stick this in your crate!
You can find it on Bandcamp and Spotify.
L'Etranger - Laroche (Brayan Rojitas Remix)
Released on October 3rd, the brand new re-release of L'Etranger's iconic nu disco single Laroche is fronted by an absolutely killer remix by Colombian producer Brayan Rojitas. Alongisde the original track - a groovy, jittery nu disco jam with gritty synths and expert sample technique - Brayan's remix is an extremely funky, pumping re-imagination built for clubs and festivals. With thumping drum work, fantastic chops and groovy percussion - this remix is bound to be one of the greats this year - and I'll be sure to stick this in my crate for DJ sets!
You can find it on Bandcamp.
Strawberry Station - Gimme Your Heartbeat
Also released on October 3rd, Gimme Your Heartbeat is the brand new single from UK-based producer Strawberry Station. An upbeat, cute, funky and catchy outing (with some very awesome cover art, also done by him!) - this track flips Sharon Brown's I Specialize in Love expertly - while also including some fun samples from Kocchi No Kendo's Hai Yokoronde to create an extremely awesome, groovy future funk track built for those bright spring days - and keeping in theme, maybe Valentines!
In short, it's classic future funk from the legend that is Strawberry Station - what's not to love?
You can find it on his Bandcamp.
Itami Dakusu - Alpha
Released independently on September 30th - Alpha is the farewell single from Peru based producer Itami Dakusu. Alpha is a fantastic track from start to finish - it's punchy, extremely stylish and fun - it's exciting and memorable (yet slightly sentimental) and of course - it has some excellent sample techniques and instrumentation. For a final single, this is absolutely incredible - and to Itami - you killed it with this one, bro. Wherever you go next, I wish you the best of luck - it's been a pleasure having you in the scene!
You can find it on his SoundCloud now.
La Voyage - Galatea
Released on October 4th - the brand new single from rising house trio La Voyage has arrived - and boy, is it a beauty. Produced by Luv4Loop, Galatea is an extremely punchy, bad-ass French house track that manages to damn near perfect the style of Welsh filter house duo Vanguard - as all of the trio's recent productions have done. With some expertly done sample chopping (and some secret nods to Vanguard's work included throughout - try and spot the percussion sample used in the build up to the last drop!) - this is one you can't miss.
You can find it on La Voyage's SoundCloud.
Jansport George - Your Body Rap (Zuiichi Mix)
On September 29th, listeners were treated to an incredible remix of Your Body Rap (initially released by Jansport George in 2023) by Zuiichi. This remix is absolutely killer - it's groovy, summery, built for clubs and parties and overall - it's so, so much fun - and it reminds me extremely heavily of the stuff that was featured on Artzie Music back in 2015-2016 - which is an absolute plus from me!
You can find it on Zuiichi's SoundCloud now.
SHPESHFTR - Banhammer (Broken Embraces Edit)
Those that read the blog regularly will know that Broken Embraces and SHPESHFTR have been producing some of the best electro blog house bangers around - so when Broken Embraces dropped this monstrous edit of Banhammer on the 29th, I knew this had to go up on the next post.
While the original, classic track is a punchy, choppy and quirky electro track which wouldn't sound out of place on Total - in true Broken Embraces tradition, this remix is full of gnarly, dirty synths and instrumentation - it's heavy, demanding and at many different points - absolutely mental - especially at the drops!
If Justice decided to go back to their old ways and started playing gigs in smoky Paris clubs and basements again, I have a good feeling they'd play this constantly.
You can find it on Broken Embraces' SoundCloud.
Jingoro - Offcuts
Released independently on October 1st - Jingoro's brand new EP Offcuts is an extremely fun, fast and exciting release - spanning mostly future funk, but also some chilled out, disco infused hip hop, and even the odd bit of jungle!
Across the seven tracks featured on this EP - there's tons of great stuff to be found - the opener Take It Slow is an extremely funky, energetic and fast flip of Michael Jackson's iconic disco track Rock With You, which I absolutely adore - Can't Stop is a punchy, stylish future funk track that oozes with Jingoro's unique style, and Space Talk is an extremely quirky, yet chilled out jungle track with some extremely fantastic chops - from what I believe to be, of all things, a city pop track! (I've never seen someone combine these two genres, but that's Jingoro for you!)
Those that know his catalogue well will also recognize several previously released singles - such as the chilled out, iconic lo-fi hip hop track Plastic Lips - built for those upcoming warm spring days - and also the classic tracks Tenderness and Talking Love - both of these tracks are set to become some of the best in 2025, and they are an extremely welcome addition to this already fantastic EP!
Overall, Offcuts is a brilliant new outing from one of the UK's finest future funk producers - and thanks to it's effortless genre blending and great production - this is definitely one I'd recommend you picking up.
You can find it on his Bandcamp page.
There you have it, everyone!
I hope you enjoyed reading today's post.
