Late November drops and news!

Hey everyone - welcome back at the discotheque! It's been a hot minute since the last promotion post on the blog - and the last two weeks have been absolutely insane for all of the scenes covered here on ATD - so I cannot wait to talk about some of the freshest new releases from a bunch of the best talents. Buckle your seatbelts - this is gonna be a long one! Broken Embraces - Unrest Released just yesterday - Unrest is the brand new single from Uruguayan electro house producer / blog-era curator Broken Embraces - which doubles down as the first single from his upcoming debut album. As always, this single is absolutely brilliant - it's a menacing, harsh and thrilling ride into the mind of one of the finest producers in the game, with stunning production and sound design to boot. It's heavy, raw, full of sharp synths, pounding drums and some very nice string action throughout. It's dirty, crazy and evil. What's not to love? You can find Unrest on SoundCloud and Bandca...

Review: II by Knightlife

Released in the summer of 2009 on Cutters - the second EP from Australian nu disco / house producer Knightlife - aptly titled II - is, although relatively simple, an incredible release filled with glittery instrumentation, lots of groove, bright, crisp production and above all - it's one of the most fun, entertaining releases to come out of the blog-era of MySpace led disco and filter house. II opens with Crusader - described as a pulsating, synth-disco jam by Cutters' head honchos Cut Copy - they couldn't be more correct. Crusader is a delightful nu disco track which wouldn't sound out of place in a smoky, Manhattan based club of the 70s - or at a summer beach party with Louis La Roche headlining. It's a dazzling (and slightly glitzy) club weapon with some fantastic synth-work, great hooks and enough funk to let any audience get down. What's not to love? The flip side couldn't be more different. Discotirso is a Cerrone-led filter house weapon with extr...

Drops from the second week of November!

What's up everyone - welcome back at the discotheque. We're now mid-way through November (seriously, where does all of the time go?) and just like last week - there's been barrels of incredible new releases from so many awesome people everywhere. Buckle your seat belts - because this week has been epic - let's get started! CitrikkAcid and blip_ - Imparable Released through legendary underground collective Nuixante on November 7th - Imparable is the fantastic new single from CitrikkAcid and blip_ - two of the finest producers to grace future funk and French house. Imparable is, at heart - an extremely fun, epic filter house banger which reminds me of the early work of Louis La Roche (Distant Lovers, anyone?) while borrowing from the sounds of early 2000s French house - it's funky, has one of the most killer bass lines of the year and some dope talk-box / vocoder action to boot. In short - this is music for summer, long days at the beach, or for late 90s Parisian club...

Drops from the first week of November!

Hey everyone - welcome back at the discotheque. November is now upon us - and this last week has seen some absolutely incredible releases from some amazing artists. Although I think it'll be hard to outdo last month in terms of epicness - from how things have been shaping up this week - we're likely to see another incredible month - let's dive into the new releases! Le Babar - Easy Love EP Released through Brazilian label 294 on November 6th - Easy Love is the stunning new EP from Belgian producer Le Babar - known for his smooth, funky nu disco productions as of recent - and also for his contributions to the blog era of French house - he used to run legendary label GrooveTraxx back in the day! This brand new EP is absolutely gorgeous - it's nu disco of the highest order - filled with rich, soulful instrumentation, extremely funky tracks which will - no doubt, light up clubs and festivals over the coming months - and most importantly, it's one of the most jubilant re...

Drops from the final days of October!

Hey everyone - welcome back at the discotheque! October has been such an incredible month for all of the scenes covered on this blog - and as the month came to an end, so many amazing releases came out - and I can't wait to cover them in today's post. Let's get started! Cassius - Dance On Released through Because Music on October 30th - Dance On is the brand new single from legendary French duo Cassius - their first outing in six years, and sadly, their final. Dance On was one of the last tracks that Boombass and Philipe worked on before Zdar's passing in the summer of 2019 - and it is a joyous, incredible end to one of the greatest discographies in French touch history. Stuffed to the brim with dazzling instrumentation, fantastic production - and sleek, slightly distorted vocals from Zdar himself - this truly is a funky nu disco workout to grace the ears. To add, legendary French musician and singer-songwriter -M- features as the lead guitarist - providing effortlessly...
