News, Releases and Cool Stuff: 11/4/25

What's up everyone - welcome back to at the discotheque.

Over the last two weeks, we've seen some incredibly awesome things happen in the French house / future funk scenes, respectively. It is a very exciting time to be a fan of this incredible music. This post is going to cover some new releases, but also some exciting news and possibly some unreleased projects.

First off, today future funk legends FIBRE, Macross 82-99 and greenteawasted are playing a show at the Baltimore Soundstage as part of YOI TOKI. Expect some absolute heat from three legends in the scene, and a very good time.

All I have to say is - for anyone heading there tonight, have a great one, and to the DJs - best of luck to you three, I'm sure you'll do amazingly. You guys are going to rock.

Building onto that - today several remixes of "Blame it on the DJ" - originally done by Discoholic and DATAGIRL dropped at all good online music retailers. All of the remixes provided are absolutely fantastic, offering fresh, exciting new takes on a nu disco classic which I still bump very often. The remixes themselves come from some amazing artists - the legendary FIBRE (who has appeared on this blog many times!) CyanBlue (who has released on Business Casual twice and is part of Nightfall and Skyfall) and Midnight Drift - a producer from Atlanta who has released numerous projects over the years in various genres (some of which, are great!)

All of the remixes have amazing qualities - CyanBlue's Nu Jack mix - my personal favourite, is an extremely lovely piece of work with some great instrumentation and turns the upbeat funky nature of the original into something meant for cruising and head bopping to. Definitely recommend!

Midnight Drift and FIBRE both opt for different vibes - instead maintaining the upbeat nature of the original and adding loads of energy and enjoyment through punchy production, complex layering and, in the case of FIBRE's edit - loads of chopping and fast rhythms. Overall, this release really is a special one. Go and check it out!

It's no surprise to anyone that netlabel and collective Creux La Nuit is making a huge amount of waves in the French house scene right now. With a huge team of incredibly talented artists (including interlectra, CitrikkAcid, FUTURE0S, Da Syncopator and of course head honcho Opierm, who was interviewed on the blog two days ago!) - the collective is quickly rising to the top with recognition from many people.

Now, I would like to bring some amazing new info from CLN HQ - approved by Opierm himself - you're hearing it here first on at the discotheque.

For a start, the collective's next compilation "Creux La Nuit Volume 3" is dropping in two weeks - if you haven't caught up on the collective's work, now is a very good time to do so, as there is going to be some incredible tracks on this new compilation.

New things that are also coming include a new single from Miss Phantom and a new compilation from Opierm himself - so there's lots of awesome stuff coming out from the team at CLN soon - keep your eyes peeled and your ears open - we are going to be blessed!

Linking on to the mention of CLN - on April 5th listeners were treated to the debut French house release of Brazilian producer mayo1109 - an EP called "Phantom's Sabotage" which contains two incredible tracks which are groovy, funky and extremely catchy, inspired by none other than the Phantom's Revenge. For a debut, this truly is an impressive feat.

Side note to DJs: If you're playing a gig at any point in the next month or so - do the guy a favor and stick these tracks in your crate - I have a good feeling that these bumping tracks have the power to make clubs jump (especially Phantom's Ruin, it is ungodly how amazing that track is...)

It really wouldn't be a post on at the discotheque without blip_ - one of the finest new talents in future funk in recent times. Alongside his new single with Corrout which he dropped today, this week he posted a Yung Bae edit on his SoundCloud, which was re-released through Bandcamp on April 9th.

It's a really fun track, built for those sweet summer days, making memories with your friends and most importantly, for playing at gigs - a side note to DJs, again: This is also another thing you should stick in your crate. Guaranteed satisfaction will occur in large crowds.

Seeing as summer is approaching, I thought I'd mention this on today's blog post to round it off. Boombass of legendary French touch duo Cassius (rest in peace, Zdar!) is currently on tour as Cassius, performing in various places across the world. There's currently ten dates left of the tour, with Boombass performing in Berlin, Toulouse, Nimes and Bordeaux and more from May - August. If you want to go and see a master at work, now is your chance! (he's also performing with some friends on certain dates, such as Bob Sinclar and Armand Van Helden, wow!)

There you have it folks! - I hope you've enjoyed today's blog post, and as always, keep enjoying your stay at the discotheque.

It is an honor to get him onto the blog! Without further ado, I'll let him do the talking! For those that don’t know you – who are you, and what music do you make? I’m Brett Francis Ewels, I’m a DJ/Producer from the UK. I started my career making French Touch inspired music, which has slowly evolved into Nu Disco and Pop over the years. What musicians, producers and artists inspire you the most in your work overall? It changes everyday. Seriously. Inspiration can come from anywhere. A lot depends on my mood or my headspace. It’s just knowing where to pull from. If it’s a Funk song, it’s t...

I'm Corrin, also known as Corrout within the music scene, making future funk and adjacent genres. I'm known for my more unique approach in chopping, using chops both as a thing to make loops as well as chops to alternate the melody!
