Hey everyone - welcome back at the discotheque.
Over the last couple of weeks, there's been loads of amazing new releases, and I thought I'd finally get back to doing promotion posts after last week's host of incredible interviews - I can't thank all of the interviewees enough for their co-operation and support - it means the world.
I also just quickly want to thank everyone for the support over the last week, the growth for the blog has been insane and I am so happy that people are enjoying a random teenager's ramblings on scenes that really deserve more love - you're all awesome. Anyway, let's get to the awesome new things that have come out!
Tater Andersson - Superstars
To start off this post, here's something a little bit different. On June 23rd, Norwegian electroclash / blog house musician and producer Tater Andersson released Superstars - a fun, yet dark and exciting punk electro track with some kick ass production, some sweet vocals from the man himself and some awesome cover art.
This new single is taken from his upcoming third album Disharmonia - and with how things are looking - this is definitely an artist on the rise to watch. You can find the single on his SoundCloud - and be sure to support him on Bandcamp too, you won't be disappointed with this!
Opierm - Number One EP
At this point, readers are expected to know Opierm - the teenage producer who single handedly is producing some of the best modern French house music around. This five track EP, released two days ago (as of writing this, July 11th) does not disappoint. All five of the EP's tracks are funky, extremely fun and are perfect for dropping into DJ sets and playing at summer parties.
To add, this EP has lots of versatility - with all of the tracks featured having different moods and ideas explored throughout - Not Doing This reminds me very heavily of Coral Twist by Le Knight Club (sounds strange at first, but you'll get what I mean!) - Just With You reminds me extremely heavily of the work of Italian filter house producer Lebatman - active between 2008-2013, and Now It's Over reminds me slightly of Evil Stereo or Vostok-1, in a way.
In short - this EP is fantastic - and a HUGE side note going out to all of the DJs - this EP is absolutely worth putting into your crate - you won't regret it whatsoever!
Some exciting new things on the horizon for disco king Mr Hoosteen!
For those that don't know - Mr Hoosteen is one of nu disco / filter house's freshest talents - he's been on the scene for around ten years, he runs OMEAC Records and he's released some amazing work over the years - including his latest album No Time 2 Lose on Montaime Records, which is utterly fantastic, may I add.
However, this summer he's going to be playing at two online festivals, bringing his incredibly fun, colourful visuals and some cracking tunes, at that. You can catch him at Beats For a Broken World on July 20th - presented by Doki Doki Beats. He'll be performing his excellent show from Sanctuary there. You can also catch him playing at Skyline Festival 25' - he'll be bringing the heat and beats on Friday August 8th. You can the posters for both events below - and to Mr Hoosteen - I bet you'll do awesome out there, my friend!
Nuixante - Luminescence
Yesterday, up and coming collective Nuixante released their first compilation Luminescence - a collection of nine future funk / French house tracks that are all absolutely brilliant. The line-up includes some incredible artists (Lady Stark, CEREAL NG, Don't Say, Itami Dakusu, CitrikkAcid, TV-FM, milkisdei, Kouek and Pina Cola!) - and the talent really shines through on this compilation.
You may recognize the name Nuixante - and some of the singles featured on this compilation - as they have been previously covered in other posts - and I stand by the fact that the singles I covered are amazing.
My favourite tracks from the compilation are CEREAL NG's Hachigatsu - a super upbeat, fun track with tons of vibes - TV-FM's Maximum Television - a kicking French house track with some incredibly punchy production and a crap ton of chops and Pina Cola's Mars - an incredible future funk track that reminds me heavily of the stuff featured on Artzie Music.
Although those are my favourites, I love all of the tracks for their unique styles and moods - CitrikkAcid's Love's a Game (To You) is a fantastic track - and I'll echo what I said in my post on June 16th - the production is awesome, and to add today, it reminds me of the work of Vostok-1 and Evil Stereo slightly, which is a great thing! In comparison, milkisidei's About You is a lovely track with some incredibly soothing sounds - it's smooth, funky, upbeat and perfect for summer.
A huge side note to DJs - go and buy this compilation. For $2, you will NOT be disappointed!
Takanashi Sachiko - With You
Yesterday, the legend Takanashi Sachiko dropped an amazing new track - With You. I really love this track, as it's incredibly fun, upbeat, very energetic, it's exciting, it has some excellent chops and it has an excellent sample (I'm not sure what it is, but I still love the flip!) - this track reminds me heavily of the work of old school future funk producers such as ID Chief and Desired - which is an incredibly good thing, coming from a self proclaimed "newcomer" in the scene.
Takanashi, you're killing it.
To anyone who hasn't heard this yet, I highly recommend you do so - it's sure to brighten up your summer days. You can find the track on his Bandcamp and SoundCloud - and be sure to look out for new work from him soon, as he is planning to produce a final album before retiring the Takanashi Sachiko alias sometime in 2026 in favor for his other projects, such as LA Teeter.
Corrout - Last Chance
On July 1st, Australian future funk producer Corrout released Last Chance - a fantastic, groovy future funk track with tons of great chopping (which is typical from Corrout, he's great at chops!) and some awesome production. I particularly love this track as it's so much fun to listen to - it makes me smile every time I put it on.
Last Chance is from his third album Melodic Memories - which is also fantastic - it's been released on Coraspect Media Group. You can go and buy the album from their Bandcamp page, or go to Corrout's page and buy the single individually. In my eyes, absolutely worth it!
Brayan Rojitas - Disco n' Sweet
To end out this post, I thought I'd shine a light on Colombian house producer Brayan Rojitas' amazing new single Disco n' Sweet, released on June 24th - this track is absolutely fantastic, with thumping beats, great sample selection and the typical Brayan Rojitas style that we have come to know and love over the years. Disco n' Sweet reminds me very heavily of the Chicago house movement of the 90s - I particularly got some DJ Sneak vibes when playing this for the first time - which I think is awesome - I don't see a lot of filter house tracks mirror the Chicago sound as well as this does!
You can buy this single on Brayan's Bandcamp for a dollar - it comes with a special extended DJ mix - making this tune perfect for dropping into your sets - for any DJs reading this, you can thank me later when this track has got the crowd jumping.
Okay everyone, there you have it!
I hope you enjoyed reading this post - it feels great to get back to doing regular posts on ATD - and once again, thanks for all of the support lately.
Make sure to go and follow the blog (because I FINALLY put a gadget in the sidebar!) and keep enjoying your stay at the discotheque.
awesome review its so cool to see someone really passionate about the scene :D also tysm for including luminescence <3
ReplyDeleteThank you so much man!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the blogggg omggg, anyways thx for including Luminescence. I'm still in goosebumps after i work with it, I never thought it receives more attentions and supports than i expected which is a good sign. Mr. Hoosteen is such an underrated artist tbh, my fav one from him was Metropolis, Lightyears and Illusions. Metropolis gave that y2k upbeat french house vibe, it reminds me of playing crappy Unity games while playing the track.
