Drops from the second week of October!

Hey everyone - welcome back at the discotheque!

We're now in the second week of October - and there's been a huge variety of drops from a variety of people in various scenes - some of them are strange, epic, and bound to be future classics, and I can't wait to cover them in today's post - so let's get into it.

Luv4Loop - Often Ways
To start this post off, I wanted to talk about the latest release from future garage stalwart Luv4Loop - the cracking single Often Ways, released through Opierm's Creux La Nuit on October 9th. A groovy, slightly jittery garage jam featuring tons of great micro-sampling techniques and thumping drum work - this track is absolutely perfect for DJs to drop in sets, where it'll likely best perform in packed clubs and venues. It's funky as hell, fun and super sweet. You wouldn't expect anything less from him!

You can find the single on his Bandcamp page now.

Creux La Nuit - CLNSpace
Further adding to Creux La Nuit's killer run over this last week - yesterday, the collective released it's newest compilation - paying tribute to the bloghouse era of the late 2000s with twelve brilliant tracks - spanning French house, disco and electro house - from the collective's greatest artists (and plenty of new additions!)

This compilation features a wide range of super important names in the now burgeoning French house scene - examples include Masques III, who delivered with his epic track Carousel - a sweet, chilled out jam which feels reminiscent of the work of Le Zebra and LBCK at certain points - the head honcho Opierm, who came in with his amazing track The Simple Way To Make It - which feels like a welcome mix between Louis La Roche's fun early work, and Evil Stereo's sentimental, heartfelt releases - and Creux La Nuit OG Hollowire, who came in with a killer electro track with lots of swing and great synth work - titled The Red Goblin Strikes Back.

As I said above, however, there is also tons of new names on this compilation - examples include Disco Sides, with his filtery, summery track Infiltered - which feels heavily inspired by the work of legendary underground producer Cryda Luv' - Generally Bored, who came in with his dope track Don't Take Me For Granted - which reminds me heavily of Tzarr's debut album - and Dexiband, who delivered with his short but sugary sweet banger Sedative - which reminds me heavily of the work of Frenssu, with its groovy sampling techniques and pumping drum work.

CLNSpace also features many returning artists - examples include mayo1109 - who made waves with his debut Phantom's Sabotage back in April - everybody's favourite Texas based bloghouse aficionado DJ Supernick - La Bourbelette, who came in with the compilation's opener Road of Today, which is an incredible track - alongside Nuliebe (a group made up of ZeroZed, Luv4Loop, TG and Suave La Musique) - their track My Heart, which is track seven of the compilation, is insane! - Future0s, who produced the killer track Danny Boy for the compilation, and me - my track Projectile is track four!

In short, this compilation is an absolute must have - it's fun, exciting, frankly epic and it shows one thing for sure - bloghouse is coming back.

You can find it on the collective's SoundCloud, or download the MP3 through MediaFire.

THAT'S MATT! and LIPSTICK LOVER - TAPED OVER
Released independently through SoundCloud on October 10th - Taped Over is the brand new single from everybody's favourite disco cowboy That's Matt, featuring Lipstick Lover. At heart, Taped Over is a future funk track which feels very reminiscent of the Artzie era - it's fun, has a whole lot of glitz and glamour - and above all, it super sweet - putting the funk back in future funk. To add, the breakdown section at the end of the track features some sweet amen break work - which is always a plus!

You can find it on TM's SoundCloud.

Le Souls - Love Lost
Released yesterday through Bandcamp, Love Lost is the funky new disco house single from New York based producer and DJ Le Souls, and boy, it is a beauty. Filled with some fantastic instrumentation (the chords are absolutely beautiful, I feel like I'm floating whenever I hear them!) - some slow, melodic, deep drums which fit perfectly, and some dope, smooth vocals - this is a must buy for any lover of buttery smooth house cuts with that obvious disco influence.

Find it here!

Da Syncopator - Bring The Traxx
Released independently through SoundCloud on October 12th - Bring The Traxx is the dazzling new single from one of filter house's newest talents, Da Syncopator. A filtery, funky jam with brilliant sampling techniques, warm instrumentation and the most killer G-funk-esque bassline - this new single reminds me heavily of the early work of Thomas Bangalter - particularly the stuff you'd hear on Roule from 1995-1998. For the DJs out there - I demand you stick this in your sets. Watch the crowd move - you can thank me later by putting a comment on this post (or the latest one, depending on the time you choose to drop it...)

Corrout, blip_ and Zai Kowen - Rhythm
Released through Pacific Collective on October 9th - Rhythm is the fantastic new single from three of future funk's biggest talents - Australian stalwarts Corrout and blip_ - who have since become ATD mainstays - and Argentina's finest future funk star and multi-genre producer Zai Kowen. This new track is extremely fun, upbeat, empowering and extremely badass. Mixing punchy future funk, hip hop and nu disco with rhymes from Eric B. and Rakim - this future classic reminds me of the work legendary artist Le Real used to do in the future funk scene - and that is an absolute plus. In short - this is a killer fusion between classic, golden age rap and summery future funk - and it's one of my personal favourites from this year - Go and give it a spin now!

Find it here!

saynntt - neverenderrrr
Released independently on October 12th - the brand new single from legendary producer saynntt is nothing short of epic - mixing complex, frankly insane electro house beats with pounding synths and extremely punchy production - with the work of early Skrillex and most importantly, Justice's Grammy winning single with Tame Impala - Neverender. This track reminds me of the more upbeat work of legendary French producer SebastiAn - while also giving me the vibes of SHPESHFTR's work. To me, this could easily have been a classic during the late 2000s blog house era - and it sure is now.

You can find it on his SoundCloud and Bandcamp - however I am going to link the Bandcamp here!

See FIBRE live on tour!
To end out this post - I thought I'd shine a light on the legendary French house / nu disco / future funk producer FIBRE - who is currently deep into his 2025 tour. You can catch the master in Baltimore on Saturday - at the Avon Theatre in Atlanta on October 26th with tons of special guests (including Midnight Drift!) and on Halloween night in San Fransisco for future funk's biggest event and club night - YOI TOKI.

Check his Instagram for more details!

I’m Brett Francis Ewels, I’m a DJ/Producer from the UK. I started my career making French Touch inspired music, which has slowly evolved into Nu Disco and Pop over the years. What musicians, producers and artists inspire you the most in your work overall? It changes everyday. Seriously. Inspiration can come from anywhere. A lot depends on my mood or my headspace. It’s just knowing where to pull from. If it’s a Funk song, it’s t...

Hey, readers of the blog! I'm Corrin, also known as Corrout within the music scene, making future funk and adjacent genres. I'm known for my more unique approach in chopping, using chops both as a thing to make loops as well as chops to alternate the melody!
