New Drops and News: December 6th - 19th

Hey everyone - welcome back at the discotheque!

Christmas is now upon us - and seeing as I've just started Christmas break - what's better than a promotion post on the blog? (Not much, I tell you...) - over the last week and a half there's been some cracking drops and fantastic news, and I can't wait to cover it all in today's (pretty epic) post.

Let's get started!

FIBRE x Aritus - Nuance (Remixes)

To kick this post off - I thought I'd shine a light on the brand new remixes EP for Nuance by FIBRE and Aritus. Released on December 17th through FIBRE's legendary independent label Montaime, alongside the original - which is a golden era future funk classic - this EP boasts an extremely impressive club mix produced by FIBRE and a killer synth-led remix from Nightowl.

The club mix, which opens this EP is absolute gold, and one of my favourite things to come out this year - it's insanely energetic, heavy and surprisingly fast, with some heavy UK-garage influence to boot - making it a perfect fit for lgendary labels such as Kiwi Records - and for sticking into your DJ sets (I better see this at MAGFest next year!)

In stark contrast, the Nightowl remix takes on a vastly different approach - utilizing gorgeous instrumentation, glittery, bright synths and punchy production to create something that feels directly influenced by Justice's latest album Hyperdrama, or some of Kavinsky's greatest works.

To conclude - although short, this release is extremely sweet - and whether you like deep, funky garage - or want a slice of modern French touch to go into your end of year playlist - this is definitely a release to check out.

You can find it on Bandcamp now - where you can also grab an extended edit of the club remix!

Hackosef - Granita (Luv4Loop Remix)

On December 14th - everybody's favourite teenage garage producer and French touch maestro from Liverpool - Luv4Loop - delivered a killer remix of Granita by French underground producer Hackosef. This edit is absolutely fantastic, and one of my favourite tracks of the month - it's impressively filtery, at times extremely glitchy and above all - it's a pure club weapon that I can almost guarantee will destroy any club it's played at. It's deep, funky, soulful and danceable - what more could you want?

You can find the remix on Hackosef's SoundCloud.

tuuwa - Torrid Touch EP

On December 8th, we saw the return of tuuwa - one of future funk's most respected (and loved) underground artists. His new EP - Torrid Touch - is a fantastic return to form for the Illinois based producer, as he delivered with six bright, disco infused jams that are practically radiating with pure joy. I use the term "punchy" a lot on the blog - and sure, while it's a common feature in house music - Torrid Touch really brings meaning to the word. Every single track is slamming and produced expertly - and none of the bangers on this excellent EP would sound out of place on Artzie back in the day - which is the biggest plus!

My personal favourites on this EP include the opener - Candid Titillation (what an... interesting name!) - a funky, jubilant, post-disco led outing which feels influenced by the work of Cape Coral, albeit with a more stripped back feel - the titular track Torrid Touch - which, while effortlessly playful - just feels like a FIBRE track through and through, with some added swag for good measure - and the short yet sickly sweet Enamored - which feels like a perfect crossover between French touch and speed garage.

To sum it up - Torrid Touch is stuffed with immaculate vibes, and I'm genuinely considering it to be one of my favourites to come out of the future funk realm this year - even though it's only been out for around a week and a half! - go and grab it on Bandcamp now.

Kouek - Wanna Dance

If tuuwa's new EP wasn't enough for you - then be sure to check out the brand new single from the biggest star in the future funk scene at the moment - Kouek. Wanna Dance, released on December 10th, is a brilliant track - it samples Toshiki Kadomatsu and T-Square expertly, and to me - this new single feels like a perfect mashup of ID Chief and Aloe Island Posse's production styles - it's groovy, cheerful and glitzy - making it a serious contender for being a future classic!

You can grab it from Bandcamp now.

Herve x Raven Daze - Raw

Released through legendary blog-era label Cheap Thrills on December 16th - Raw is the new single from Herve and Raven Daze, and boy, it is a beauty. A funky slice of jacking disco house built for DJs, dancefloors and those loud, messy house parties - this new single is one of the funkiest to come out of the disco house front in months - it's a hefty yet extremely fun workout with a whole lot of style, and at heart, it feels like a welcome tribute to the late 90s Chicago house sound. Let me say it now - DJs - you know exactly what to do. Thank me in the comments of this post (and make sure to give some appreciation to the boys for cooking this up!)

You can grab it on Bandcamp now.

Some fantastic news for fans of Lebatman!

Before we get back to promoting new releases - I think it's time for a small news break.

To kick this off - yesterday, former Italian filter house producer and DJ Lebatman returned to SoundCloud by posting a bunch of songs that previously had been scattered around various blogs and internet uploads - and among those included some lost demos and older tracks - including a lost track from the best part of fifteen years ago, which now goes by the name of Mama Rue - and some unreleased, smooth nu disco influenced bangers such as Stars Truck. Below is the link to his SoundCloud, where a bunch of these tracks (and a ton of his classics!) have been uploaded.

DYSFUNKTION is going online!

It's going to be a busy month for Dysfunktion - the club night that legendary collective and label Nightfall run. Tonight, Dysfunktion is coming to Las Vegas and Toronto - and on December 27th, Dysfunktion is hosting it's first ever online event, featuring tons of amazing DJs and performers. On the lineup there's loads of legends - Monamie (the head honcho!) - FIBRE, Elektric Dreams, Lucky Talisman and Greenteawasted - amongst a host of talented underground producers such as Saynntt, Musanoise and Chrylo.

Go and tune in on their Twitch!

Go and see the Montaime roster DJ!

To close out this little news break - I thought I'd briefly mention the next open deck night in Montaime's Discord server, which is taking place on the 21st. You'll be able to witness a bunch of legends - of course, the head honcho FIBRE - future disco king and visual artist Mr. Hoosteen - bloghouse era aficionado Artemis Morte - Creux La Nuit member and talented producer fortyfeds - who is fresh off the back of releasing his debut single as klubmachine - and a bunch of other awesome people such as WIND, DCO, Boffington Slater, arch4ngel, HYPERPUP, CL-O, Wherefore, Midnight Drift, KREUZEN and EJAY.

Mr. Moustache - Might and Magic

Released independently on December 6th - the new single from Texas-based French house and nu-disco producer Mr. Moustache is absolutely incredible. Aptly titled Might and Magic - this new single truly is fantastic and slightly magical - it's a brilliant and smooth foray into nu disco with thick, warm yet blindingly bright instrumentation and incredibly punchy, tight production - which would make it a perfect fit for late 70s and early 80s discotheques - in the middle of Louis La Roche's first album - or in a DJ set done by everyone's favourite disco ball man - Discoholic!

You can find this excellent single on SoundCloud and Bandcamp now.

DJ Double Dutch - Trust Me, I'm Unprofessional

Released independently today - Trust Me, I'm Unprofessional is the second album from established DJ and producer (and Creux La Nuit member!) DJ Double Dutch. This is easily one of the most versatile projects I've ever covered on the blog - as although it's a filter house record at heart - there's some heavy breakbeat influences, ambient interludes and general electronica littered throughout - showcasing the man's immense talent, all while paying homage to his wide range of inspirations and influences.

My favourite tracks on this frankly insane release include the intro - It Began Sometime Somewhere - a funky, disco influenced workout with some heavy breaks and samples from the Chemical Brothers - the energetic, jubilant and uplifting future classic that is Feel Your Love - a filter house banger with dazzling instrumentation and a whole lot of finesse - which feels like a track that could have easily been made by DJ Falcon and Thomas Bangalter under their two-time alias Together - and the album's second track The Fitness Tape - which feels like a quirky (yet very welcome) mix of Cryda Luv, The Disko Starz and Le Knight Club. Although my personal favourites reside in the disco realm - the rest of the album is an insane ride with a bunch of moods, vibes, and above all - it's a journey and a half!

You can find this album on Bandcamp.

Del4y and blip_ - Holding Me

Released independently on December 12th - the new single from Del4y and blip_ - two of future funk's finest new talents, is absolutely incredible. Holding Me is an effortlessly funky banger that's set to define 2026 with the most killer bassline (and I mean killer - I haven't heard a bassline that funky in ages!) and incredible production. Furthermore, despite this single's status as future funk - Holding Me feels like a brilliant disco house workout - and it wouldn't sound out of place on legendary early 2010s labels such as Disco Motion or 4Disco Records - so if either of those labels relaunched - this would be signed in a heartbeat.

You can stream this incredible track on all streaming platforms now - but I'm going to link the SoundCloud.

Borussia - Bootlegs: Volume 3

To end out this post - I thought I'd briefly mention the third release in Borussia's fantastic Bootlegs series. The former Ed Banger affiliate cooked up two club destroying jams for this release - and although relatively short, they absolutely pack a massive punch. Both of the tracks featured - Kisss and Sneaky Way are rambunctious, fun, Italo disco led tracks with jittery drum work, excellent sampling technique and overall - a crap ton of style.

You can grab this release on Bandcamp now.

There you have it, everyone!

I hope you've enjoyed today's post - as always, be sure to support all of the artists featured - make sure to follow the blog - and as always, keep enjoying your stay at the discotheque.
