Hey everyone - welcome back at the discotheque!
It's been a hot minute since the last promotion post on the blog - and as always, over the last two weeks, a bunch of killer stuff has dropped from so many awesome artists. There's future funk, there's filter house, there's some sweet disco - and of course, some dope blog-era stuff - so without further ado - here's some of my top picks from the first half of the month!
Let's get started!
Mere Notilde - Stay With Me
Released through FIBRE's legendary label Montaime on February 4th - the brand new single from Boston-based producer and DJ Mere Notilde - which is set to be the first track from his upcoming release SOUL SEEK, is super, super cool, bright and very quirky. It's a sugary sweet piece of future funk / house which is effortlessly joyous, warm and oddly cute at the same time, with some fantastic, shiny production and great vocal work from Mere himself - it's a bit like if you stuck vocaloid, disco and house into a blender, and to add - it reminds me a little bit of Snail's House - which, if you ask me, is a massive plus!
You can grab Stay With Me on Bandcamp now.
Aritus x FIBRE - Solid State (GA2B Remix)
Building onto the topic of Montaime - on February 11th, listeners were treated to a killer remix of Solid State - initially produced by two of future funk's biggest legends, Aritus and FIBRE for their incredible Virtues EP - by one half of French duo On Point, GA2B.
While the original track is a fun, punchy, golden-era future funk classic - GA2B takes it up a level - turning in a ridiculous club weapon that mixes the late 90s filter house sound, the mid-2000s wave of disco house and a little bit of blog-era electro, to make a stunning banger that is guaranteed to destroy dancefloors all over. If you got Supa Channel, Thomas Bangalter and a bunch of the Ed Banger crew in the studio to make something epic - this is what you'd likely get!
You can grab this epic remix, alongside the original on Bandcamp now.
Vampires Love Sunny - Little Too Late
Although French house and future funk are mentioned pretty much constantly on the blog - I feel like there isn't enough mention of nu disco (something which needs to change!) - so without further ado, I'd like to shine a light on the debut single of virtual band Vampires Love Sunny - a fantastic, effortlessly smooth and incredible city pop cover of Little Too Late - which was initially done by Boston's finest disco aficionado - Camino 84.
To put it in the best way I can - this cover is absolutely brilliant. It trades the electrifying energy of the original, the warm instrumentation and heavy low end for softer, slightly deeper undertones while still managing to perfectly capture the wonder and magic of the original nu disco classic - albeit with some added elegance and glamour for good measure. If you're a fan of more natural grooves (so, stepping away from samples and filtery jams!) - then this is a must listen. It's utterly brilliant.
You can find Vampires Love Sunny in various places - but I'm going to link the lyric video below, and also Sunny's Instagram, where she does AMAZING artwork - so be sure to check her out!
The Phantom's Revenge - VINE LOOP #1 (Luv4Loop Extended Edit)
Released independently through SoundCloud last Saturday - the brand new remix from everybody's favourite Liverpool legend Luv4Loop dropped - and although to some it may have been a surprise - it sure wasn't for a bunch of his friends.
You see, Lee's been heavily listening to The Phantom's Revenge for the best part of three weeks now (it's basically an obsession, but can you blame him?) - and as soon as he got his hands on one of the French superhero's biggest classics - he went ahead and cooked up a mad edit which, to put it simply - is likely one of the best I've ever heard. It's ridiculously funky, wild, tight and built for clubs - and yes, I know I say that a lot, but I seriously think this would go down insanely well with a large crowd - and it's insanely upbeat, crazy, and it channels the spirit of early I:Cube or Ian Pooley perfectly - so it's a huge thumbs up from me!
(I have been listening to it endlessly, if anyone can beat me on the number of SoundCloud plays, let me know!)

ROMES - DISSOLVER (Wire One Remix)
Stepping away from the smooth, disco-infused sounds and moods that have been dominating this particular post - on Thursday, the blog's resident Detroiter Wire One unleashed a nasty, yet fantastic remix of Dissolver by Toronto-based band Romes. As to be expected - this remix is so, so many different things - it's extremely heavy, dark and ridiculous - mirroring the sounds of blog-era legends such as Partyshank and Justice - and this remix is also super bad-ass, epic, and metaphorically, a giant roller-coaster ride. It's for headbanging. It's for dancing. It's for marveling over. It's for the gym. It's for everything cool!

Oran Jusu - Okay!
Released through Plastic Love yesterday - Okay! is the brand new single from Edinburgh based future funk / nu disco producer Oran Jusu - and it is super, super sweet. At heart, this single is classic future funk - it's extremely bright, glitzy and summery - but it also has some sprinklings of nu disco influence littered throughout, making it stand out excellently amongst a whole lot of modern future funk - likely through the instrumentation, fantastic sampling techniques (it'll be hard trying to find the original sample!) and warm, rich and deep production - which makes it radiate with joy. I can almost guarantee that it'll end up on Real Love Music very soon, and if this is anything to go by - Oran Jusu's debut album is looking to be awesome.
You can grab this single through Bandcamp now.
Kouek & Pina Cola - Overshare
To end out this post - I wanted to go ahead and promote the fantastic new single from two of the finest underground talents in future funk - Kouek and Pina Cola. Their new track Overshare is absolutely fantastic - and it feels like a very welcome mix between the styles of ID Chief (due to the sampling) - FIBRE (due to the punchy, tight production) and Cape Coral (for the post disco, late 80s influence!) - to add, it has the most killer bassline - which feels reminiscent of Alan Braxe and Fred Falke, and above all, it's extremely flamboyant and fun. This truly is top tier future funk.
You can go and listen to it through SoundCloud!
There you have it, everyone!
I hope you've enjoyed reading today's post - be sure to support all of the artists followed, and as always - keep enjoying your stay at the discotheque.
