For today's interview, we have American producer ZeroZed joining the hot seat at ATD - he's known for producing an eclectic mix of garage, French house and if it's your thing - drum and bass, too. He's also a member of both Deladapt Records and Creux La Nuit, so he's recognizable in various places!
Without further ado, I'll let him do the talking.
For those who don’t know you – who are you, and what music do you make?
I'm ZeroZed - I mainly make UKG & jungle music, but I also do french house.
What are some of your inspirations musically?
I'd say that Todd Edwards inspired me (no pun intended) but I am also inspired by the whole Todd Edwards fan crew. I'm not really inspired by anybody for my jungle music!
You recently released your latest EP, Needing on Deladapt Records / CLN – can you tell us some of the production secrets behind it?
For the first track (I Need You) I just stole drums from a WIP version of Luv4Loop's "The Answer" and the bass I stole from Sauve La Musique's WIP of a track called Reach Out :P
Building onto that, what programs / equipment do you use to make music?
It's a whole jumble of a mess - I used to use LMMS before switching to FL Studio, but I use Ableton for collaborations - nothing physical though, maybe except for a CD player.
If you had to take three albums to a desert island – which releases would you pick?
Honestly, I don't know! (I'm just a producer, so check my last.fm!)
My favourite track of yours is your edit of “Love Sensation” on the joint single between you and Luv4Loop – how did that come about?
So, I first used FL Studio for the WIP, and Luv4Loop wanted to collab, so I sent the project file - but he used Ableton - so I remade it in Live 12, but realized that wouldn't work because he uses Live 11, so I down converted it.
Where do you see yourself in five years?
Do you think I know where I see myself in one year?
If you were allowed to have lunch with one artist you love, living or dead, who would that be, and why?
Michael Jackson in 1984 so I can tell him not to go to that Pepsi commercial.
Do you want to give any tips to aspiring producers?
to clarify, i lent him the drums for I Need You, he had permission lmfao
ReplyDeleteI assumed so, nice to see you here again man :)
